Barrie and District Association of Realtors Release 2019

Quarter One (Q1) Statistics

 

2019 was off to a strong start with the number of sales up from last year's Q1. This was driven by an increased number of sales outside of Barrie.

Simcoe County

There was an increase of 8.6% in units sold when comparing Q1 of 2019 with 912 units sold vs. 2018's Q1 at 840 units.

 

Barrie

The number of sales within Barrie have declined 6.3% as compared to Q1 of last year.

Simcoe County Excluding Barrie

Total units sold has increased from Q1 2018 total of 411 units to 506 units in Q1 of 2019. This is an increase of 23.1%

 

Average price is also up slightly as compared to last year (+0.3%). This increase in average price was driven by a shift in residential home sales transactions towards areas outside of Barrie, where houses are more expensive.

 

Simcoe County

Overall, the average price of homes in Simcoe County went up slightly from $499,625 in Q1 2018 to $507,214 in Q1 2019. This is an increase of 1.5%

Barrie

Individual home prices in Barrie are down slightly from $485,079 in Q1 2018 to $480,967 in Q1 2019. A total decline of 0.8%.

Simcoe County Excluding Barrie

Simcoe County Excluding Barrie saw a slight increase in average price of roughly 1.9%.
